Addison’s senior session in a golden field is one I’ll never forget. Mainly because, just 12 hours before her session, the original field we planned to use was completely mowed down! Talk about panic!!!
I always preview my locations before every session… It doesn’t matter what type of session it is. I was simply doing what I always do. And then suddenly, I’m staring at a field that no longer exists. And yes, I panicked!!!!
Addison is the third of four sisters, and I’ve photographed her two older sister’s senior photos, as well. So, I really wanted Addison’s senior session to feel just as special for her as it did for her older sisters. Instead, I found myself scrambling.
But after a moment (and several deep breaths), I reminded myself: “okay… just make a new plan”. I had no other choice. In almost a decade of business, this had never happened before. I still can’t believe it.
So I started driving around, looking for options, and, for fun, shared the situation on my stories in a lighthearted way. (I was feeling anything BUT lighthearted at the time). And you know what happened? People started sending me suggestions for other fields nearby. The session was saved!!!!
Twelve hours later, I showed up feeling calm, prepared, and genuinely excited.
We started the session at sunrise, and it was cold by Florida standards. We all stepped out of our cars with jackets and sweatshirts, ready to make this session happen… especially after everything it took to get there. Addison wasn’t fully aware of the stress that I experienced just 12 hours before, and she wasn’t supposed to! Instead, her job was to show up relaxed, confident, and warm!!! It was really, really cold outside.
Addison started her session in the prettiest white, floral dress. It was perfect with the soft morning light rising over the field. The tall pine trees, far off in the background made this location even more beautiful. We walked, she twirled, and her younger sister, Claire, who also joined us, kept her laughing almost the entire time. We were able to capture the sweetest portraits.
One of my favorite parts of the session was when Addison brought her Bible. That was really important to her, and getting to photograph her as she was reading her favorite, highlighted bible verses was so special. It was such a sweet reminder for me, that even when something feels like a big setback (like a completely plowed field), none of it is a surprise to God. He truly gave us an even prettier golden field for Addison’s senior photos.
Next, Addison changed into a light blue dress that she planned to wear with her cap and gown. But it was so pretty on its own that I had to photograph it before adding the cap and gown. I’m so glad we did because it was such a fun part of the session.
Addison also decorated her graduation cap, which I had a feeling she would do, since her two sisters, Hailey and Isabella decorated their graduation caps as well. Addison’s cap had such a beautiful boho vibe that looked stunning in the golden field.
We really enjoyed this part of her session and were so thankful it was starting to warm up a bit. The sun was higher in the sky, and we were definitely grateful for that!
We finished her session with jeans and a cute white top, and this part of her session really felt like her. Carefree and casual… Addison was just adorable!
At the end, her mom and sister jumped in for a few photos to celebrate this special accomplishment in Addison’s life.
