Sandi Michelle & Penny

SENIORS WEDDINGS  Penny the PHOTO BUS

A Peaceful Wedding At The Wedding Retreat

Penny arrived early that day. The bride and her bridesmaids were getting ready in the bridal suite, just a short walk away. We could hear the excited chatter and laughter as the bridesmaids prepared for one of the most important days of the bride’s life.

We always love that sound when we arrive. This one felt especially calm, joyful, and full of anticipation. It was the kind of relaxed start that sets the tone for the entire day.

A Peaceful Start To the Day

We drove Penny straight to her spot, tucked beneath a sprawling oak tree at The Wedding Retreat in Thonotosassa, Florida. From our vantage point, we had the best view and were able to see everything.

The ceremony space sat just steps away. It was simple, peaceful, and surrounded by towering Oak trees, that made the entire wedding day feel hidden from the outside world. It felt intentional… like a place where moments were meant to be felt, and not rushed.

Just beyond the ceremony site, the barn waited patiently for what was to come. It was close enough to feel like part of everything, but just far enough away that you could feel the shift to the party that was about to begin.

Penny the Photo Bus didn’t need to move to be part of the party. She was placed exactly where she needed to be… in the center of it all. And, as the ceremony ended and guests slowly made their way toward cocktail hour, Penny was there, waiting quietly under the oak trees. She was ready for what was to come!

During cocktail hour, just a few guests wandered over, curious and excited. Some guests grabbed photo props and some did not. They stepped inside and the laughter began as they were figuring out their props and poses. It was energetic, and still easy as the guests were getting to know who our Penny was.

But once the first dances, dinner, and toasts were over… everything shifted.

And Then The Party Started…

That quiet, wooded space that once held sacred vows, and reverence for the gift of marriage completely changed! All of a sudden, the reception space was filled with laughter, music, and the kind of joy that only happens when everyone you love is in one place. The party had officially started!

It was all happening from just outside of the reception space. And within minutes, groups of friends piled in together, kept coming back again… and again. The guests got comfortable and crazy. Their shoes kicked off, drinks in hand, arms wrapped around each other as they squeezed into Penny. We were thrilled to see the guests capturing so many moments that they never wanted to forget.

And then… out came the bridal party. It’s our favorite moment of every wedding day! The bride and groom stepped inside of Penny, surrounded by their people, and you could feel it immediately. It was the kind of connection you can’t fake. The kind that shows up in the way they laughed, leaned into each other, and celebrated under the glow of the lights. The space that had held their ceremony, just a couple of hours ago, was now a space where they made memories for the rest of the night! These memories are the ones that they’ll carry in their hearts long after the wedding day was over. It’s something that we will never get over, as Penny’s drivers!

What We Loved Most

One of the things that we (including Penny) loved most about The Wedding Retreat was how open and inviting everything felt. There was so much space for guests to wander, explore, and simply enjoy being there. It was never rushed, and never crowded.

Right beside Penny, tucked under the oak trees, was the sweetest little swing hanging from a large branch. It quickly became a quiet spot for conversations, laughter, and those in-between moments that often end up meaning the most.

Throughout the evening, guests drifted in and out. Some stopped by for photos while others watched nearby… just to soak it all in. It was sweet to see all of the guests together in a place that made it easy to slow down. It wasn’t just beautiful… it just felt really good to be here.

Weddings like this are exactly why Penny the Photo Bus exists.

If you’re planning your own celebration and want to create a space where your guests can truly enjoy the moment and make memories together, we’d love to be part of your day. You can learn more about Penny here.

And if you’re still here, we hope you enjoy some of our favorite moments from this beautiful wedding day at The Wedding Retreat… captured from Penny’s perspective, of course.
