Angelina and Trey are the ultimate outdoor duo. They love fishing, fresh air, being in the woods, and wide open trails… that’s their happy place. So when Angelina and Trey reached out for a nature preserve engagement session in Spring Hill, Florida, I wasn’t surprised one bit. It felt like the most them thing they could have done. And it was perfect.

Styled with Intention and Full of Personality

From the moment they arrived, I could tell how much care they had put into the details. They had clearly read through my engagement style guide (a photographer’s dream!!) and showed up looking amazing. Angelina’s big white bow in the back of her hair was the sweetest touch ~ elegant and playful, all at the same time.

A Florida Summer Day ~ With All Its Heat and Heart

It was also so hot on the day of their engagement session. August in Florida does not play around, but you would have never known. These two were so content, and easy to work with. You could tell that, being an outdoor couple, they knew all about the insane outdoor heat in August!! We had plenty of water breaks, and as refreshing as those were, the conversations were even more so. I loved getting to hear more about their story… and not just their story, but how they’re part of one of the most special things that I get to experience as an engagement and wedding photographer.

Legacy Couples: One of the Sweetest Parts of My Job

Angelina and Trey are what I lovingly call a “legacy couple.” They came to me through a chain of close-knit friends, siblings, and cousins whose weddings I’ve had the honor of capturing over the years. It’s one of the greatest compliments in this job… to be welcomed back again and again by the same families. And now here we are, just 16 days away from their own wedding day. My heart couldn’t be more happy!!!

How the Storms Cleared ~ Just in Time

On the day of their session, we met at the top of the trail in the preserve, right in the middle of Florida’s rainy season. I had been glued to the radar all morning, ready to call it if needed, but Angelina was up for the risk. I’m so glad she was. In true Florida fashion, the storms disappeared just as quickly as they came. What followed was a gorgeous, sun-soaked afternoon…

Golden Hour, Glowy Grass, and Pure Magic

We started their engagement photos on a grassy trail near a quiet lake. The sun was high, the grass glowy, and thankfully, we had some shady spots here and there, so that we could cool down when we needed a break. Angelina was an absolute trooper… changing into jeans mid-session (yes, jeans in Florida humidity!) and still looking flawless.

We wandered through the tall grass (watching for snakes!), explored the wooded areas, and wrapped up the session by the lake during golden hour. Some of my favorite images came from the final portion of their session… especially the ones where I let them walk ahead of me, hand in hand, down the trail. Just the two of them. Beginning the next chapter of their lives… together!!

Counting Down the Days to Their Outdoor Wedding

In a little more than two weeks, they’ll be getting married in another beautiful, nature-filled location ~ exactly where they feel most at home, and I can hardly wait! It is going to be such a wonderful celebration… and a bit of a reunion too!! I can’t wait to see my previous brides and grooms, as well. What a joy it is to serve such amazing clients! I’ll never get over it!!!
