A Sunken Gardens Wedding Day

Weddings

January 26, 2026

Just 2 weeks ago, I had the joy of photographing Halley and Patrick’s wedding at Sunken Gardens, in St. Petersburg, Florida, and I can honestly say, it was one of the most peaceful wedding days I’ve ever captured. They had just their family present, and their Sunken Garden wedding day felt laid-back, calm, and totally centered on what really mattered to them. It was perfect.

A Legacy That Runs Deep

Halley and Patrick are part of what I call a “legacy family.” I photographed Halley’s brother’s wedding just under two years ago. And, his wife was one of my seniors before that, and most recently I captured their maternity session. So when Halley reached out, I already felt connected to her story… like she wasn’t just a bride, but family.

Their wedding was intentionally small. Just immediate family. No outside guests. It started quietly, with a few family portraits and then a private first look. And, Patrick’s face when he saw Halley? Absolute JOY!!! There’s something about Halley that puts Patrick at ease. You can almost literally see the calm wash over him when he’s with her. It was a beautiful thing to watch as it unfolded.

Halley wore a simple white wedding dress that she made herself (yes, you read that right!)… and it couldn’t have been more perfect for her. It matched her laid-back, thoughtful personality in every way. I honestly can’t imagine her in anything else.

An Intimate Ceremony Under the Trees

Their ceremony took place under the trees at Sunken Gardens. It was quiet, meaningful, and full of love and support. Their families surrounded them, and it was so heart warming. Every word that they spoke to each other felt deeply rooted in love and respect.

Portraits in the Gardens

After the ceremony, we walked the property and took portraits all throughout the garden paths. By the time we started walking around to take photos, the outside guests were inside of the gardens and they were wandering around as well. They offered congratulations and warm smiles. They spoke so many kind words over Halley and Patrick, and it just added to the joy and emotion of their day.

A Lovely Reception at the Columbia Restaurant

Once the photos were complete, the celebration moved to The Columbia Restaurant, where they gathered for a lunch reception, with their family, in the King’s Room. Halley’s aunt had made their wedding cake, and it was as beautiful as it was meaningful. The speeches were heartfelt and full of gratitude… just like the entire day.

Halley and Patrick, thank you for trusting me with your story. It was a gift to witness and photograph your wedding day. It was a day full of legacy, simplicity, and love that speaks for itself. I was honored to be there with you. Congratulations on your perfect wedding day.
