Every wedding I photograph is special. However, of all the weddings I’ve photographed, this lovely Fall wedding stopped me in my tracks. Lind and Bonnie were 79 and 89 years old when they stood together and said “I do.” Their wedding was a true reminder that God is never done writing our stories. And, photographing their wedding day didn’t feel like working at all. It felt like witnessing a living testimony to faith, legacy, and the kind of love that grows deeper through life’s valleys. This faith-filled wedding highlighted God’s goodness and the beauty of beginning again.
A Church Steeped in Legacy
The ceremony took place at Idlewild Baptist Church, the place where both of their families have called home for many, many years. It’s a place that holds years of memories, ministry, and legacy. Over the years, Lind has faithfully served, and he is still serving at his church today. He has poured himself into the orchestra ministry and into the lives of others for many years. His walk with the Lord is steady, and deeply inspiring. And, Bonnie serves faithfully in the music ministry, singing in the choir each week.
Their Wedding Day
When Lind arrived at the church, early and alone except for me, I saw a man who was full of life and purpose. I was struck by his strength, his joy, and his tenderness. He stood tall in his suit, waiting to see the woman that God had given him for this next chapter of his life.
Shortly after, Bonnie arrived with her (soon-to-be) daughter-in-law by her side. She looked elegant, joyful, and full of peace. And her (soon-to-be) daughter-in-law, Molly, also made the bouquet that she held. They were roses in soft pinks and whites. They were beautiful!
A First Look Worth Waiting For
Before the ceremony, Lind and Bonnie asked for a private first look.
There was no audience. No big reveal. Just the two of them, across the church, tucked away in the architecture of their home church, sharing a moment that only they could fully understand. Their story isn’t one of brand-new beginnings. It’s one of faith after loss, hope after heartache, and deep love in a new season.
It was an honor to photograph their wedding day, and to quietly tear up behind my camera (I don’t think I was the only one). The way Bonnie looked at Lind, and the way he reached for her hand… it felt sacred.
A Ceremony That Felt Like Worship
Their beloved worship pastor officiated the ceremony, offering words that reflected the deep truth of covenant love. Bonnie’s future son-in-law walked her down the aisle, to the man God had placed in her life for this next season.
They shared the sweetest vows. They were intimate, heartfelt, and full of hope and gratitude. The veranda, where their ceremony took place, was filled with the warmth of family and the presence of God.
Their Reception
After the ceremony, the family gathered at one of Lind and Bonnie’s favorite restaurants for a simple reception. They shared a meal, raised glasses, gave toasts, told stories, and cut cake together. I was invited to stay, and it was a gift to be part of such a meaningful celebration. There was laughter, joy, and a deep sense that we were all witnessing something holy.
God’s Never Done Writing Our Stories
Lind and Bonnie are living proof that it’s never too late for a new beginning. They said yes to love, again, at 79 and 89 years old. They’re doing this new season with full hearts, and their story is a beautiful reminder that, If you’re still breathing, God’s not finished writing your story.
Congratulations, Mr. & Mrs. Voth. Your story is marked by joy, hope, and the unmistakable goodness of God. What an honor it was to capture your wedding day… It was truly one of my absolute favorites!
